22 December 1976 25 March 2024
Rolandia was born on December 22, 1976 in Regina SK to Dennis and Lorna (nee Johnson) Koester. She started the first three years of her life on a farm south of Rockglen, SK. Soon after, Royce joined the family in Dec 1979. In early 1980 a move was made to Spruce View, AB. The family resided there for three years before moving to an acreage north-west of Eckville. It was here Rolandia learned to figure skate, ski, and swim and was involved with 4-H. She attended Eckville Elementary for the first 6 years, she then continued her education at Leslieville Elementary and graduated from David Thompson High School in 1995.
Rolandia wasn’t afraid to tackle any job—she worked in a few hog barns, did some waitressing from Jenner to Spruce View and Red Deer, AB, as a Caregiver, she worked as a welder’s helper, swamper, and would travel anywhere for work. This led her to Ft. Nelson BC, Slave Lake AB, and to northern Ontario and many places in-between. She finally settled on an Education in Occupational Health and Safety. Whereupon she received her Diploma 2015. She embraced this job with enthusiasm, and it was right up her alley as it was working in the great outdoors.
Rolandia and Dale Robinson were married in 2014. They had a beautiful wedding in Cancun, Mexico. They lived in Red Deer, AB for a period before settling in Elkford, BC where Dale works for TECK Mines. Not long after moving to Elkford, Rolandia was involved in a single car accident which left her partially paralyzed from the waist down. Through pure determination, stubbornness, and persistence, she regained partial movement of her legs and was able to walk with fore-arm crutches. Somehow, obstacles kept rearing their ugly heads and slowing her progress. Through determination, a lot of self-research and learning the ropes of the medical system she was overcoming these roadblocks and making headway.
She felt so lucky to have reconnected with her Aunts, Uncles and Cousins this past year at the “Johnson Gathering” in Unity, SK. She loved camping, quadding, and boating with family and friends and always had her little dog Solo by her side. When health issues permitted, she loved to travel.
Rolandia had a great passion to let anyone, and everyone know her absolute disgust (that is put very mildly) of Canada’s Federal government and especially its leader. She is known for her outspoken words regarding this. Rolandia was quite excited when she made it to one of the border rallies to support the “Freedom Convoy”.
Rolandia was predeceased by her father, Dennis Koester, paternal grandparents Ivan and Merle Koester and Uncle Trevor Koester, her maternal grandfather Clarence Johnson.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Dale, her mother Lorna Johnson (Robert Prefontaine), her brother Royce Koester (Brandy), nephews Korbin and Kasen and a very special Grandma Ida (Beatul); her mother and father in-law Orlan & Margo Robinson, brother-in-law Kyle Robinson (Cathy) and nephews Ben and Lincoln, sister-in-law Kelly Robinson, Aunts, Uncles and numerous cousins and friends. Finally, her little dog Solo.
