Shirley was born in Verwood, Saskatchewan and spent her childhood in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan. After high school she moved to Moose Jaw to take the diploma nursing program and became a registered nurse. Shirley’s first nursing position was at the Bengough Hospital, where she met the town pharmacist, George Little and fell in love. Bengough became Shirley and George’s permanent home and was where they built their lives and were valued members of the community.
Shirley was a loving and caring person and was always there for her family. One of the ways she displayed this affection was through her cooking—especially planning large family dinners. No matter where she was, her smile and laugh would light up the room.
She is survived by her three children and their families: Donna (Barry) Brusky, Saskatoon; George (Vanessa) Little, St. Lucia; Delee (Kevin) Foley, Bengough. She was a proud grandparent to her six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: Janna Brusky (Kris Breen), Trenna Brusky (Bryce Williams), Terrill (Lisa) Foley, Tyrin Foley, George Little and Keisha Little. Shirley is also survived by her sisters Evelyn Flittner and Gloria Tufford, sister-in-law Jean Little as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Shirley’s caregivers at the Bengough Care Home for their compassion and excellent care.
A private service will be held at a later date in Bengough. Donations can be made, in memory of Shirley, to Bengough Health Centre Ladies Auxillary, Box 339, Bengough, SK S0C 0K0. Expressions of sympathy for the Little family may be shared at www.rossfuneralservice.com. Arrangements entrusted to Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia, SK
