Thelma Louise (nee Cliffe)
September 11, 1923 – November 5, 2021
Thelma was born in Boissevain, Manitoba to Austin and Violet Cliffe on September 11, 1923. She started her schooling at a country school East Lynne and finished at Boissevain High School. In 1942, she began her training for a nurse at the Winnipeg General Hospital. After her training, she worked at Deloraine Hospital and the City Hospital in Saskatoon.
On October 9, 1948, she married Douglas Cole from Mazenod, Saskatchewan. She lived and worked on the farm for the next 46 years. On Doug’s passing in 1994, she moved to Assiniboia and then on to Victoria, British Columbia in 2020.
Thelma was predeceased by her mother and father, sister Muriel (Ron), husband Douglas and son Allan. Thelma is survived by her brother Jim, daughter Marlene, sons Ian (Nancy), Bruce (Betty) and daughter-in-law Pat O’Neill. She is also survived by grandchildren Alison, Linsey, Erin, Rebecca, Andrea, Nolan and great grandchildren Alistair, Brendon, Bronwyn, Finn, Will and nieces Donna, Dianne and nephew Harold.
Throughout her life, Thelma was active in the community with Women’s and Church Organizations. When she moved into Assiniboia, she volunteered at the local care homes and various church activities. Thelma enjoyed sewing, crocheting and knitting which resulted in many handcrafted sweaters and Afghans for the family.
Thelma passed peacefully with family present at Amica on the Gorge in Victoria, BC.
The family is grateful for the all the care Mom received while a resident at the Prairie Villa in Assiniboia and at the Amica on the Gorge in Victoria.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at 2:00 pm at St. Paul's United Church, Assiniboia, SK. Wendy Gibson DLMr officiating. Private Family Interment at the Mazenod Cemetery. Any desired donations can be made to the Saskatchewan TeleMiracle or the Saskatchewan Abilities.
