Born May 4, 1932, in St. Victor, SK to Rebecca and Conrad Sylvestre. She was the oldest of ten siblings and she was a second mom to them. She took pride in getting them up, doing their hair and getting them to school each day.
She met her husband, Maurice Delorme, at the age of 10, as they lived in the same apartment building in St. Victor. Maurice's grandmother was a midwife and even delivered Yvette. Maurice and Yvette’s friendship grew stronger and they fell in love and were married November 11, 1956 at St. George’s Roman Catholic Church in Assiniboia. They had one daughter, Bernadette and four sons, Ronald, Richard, Michael and Raymond. They raised their family in Congress and Assiniboia.
Yvette was a social, inviting person who welcomed everyone into her home and heart. She was devoid of vanity and was humble to her core.
There was rarely a day in her home without a visitor or two. She loved her family fiercely and was a devoted wife, sister, mother and grandma. She was also a surrogate mom and grandma to many.
She had so many talents and ran her home seamlessly. She loved feeding people and was an amazing cook. She was also a wonderful seamstress.
Her laugh and sense of humor were one of a kind and even though dementia took her away a lot these last few years, it never took away those.
Yvette is survived by her sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren: Ronald (Jeanine) and his children, John, Cindy, Christopher, Derek, Amber, Jesse, and Shyann; Richard and his children, Jared, Alyssa and Tyson; Michael (Cory) and his children Sasha, Natasha, Jade, Shawn and Maggie, and Raymond (Nancy) and their children Christina Lee, Christina Marie, Rebecca, Jeffrey and Cory, Bernadette’s children, Jody, Deanna and Destiny, as well as her grandchildren’s spouses, 40 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way. She is also survived by her sister’s Vivian Chambers, Laurette Hein, her brother Johnny Sylvestre and sister-in-law Rose Delorme.
She was predeceased by her parents, Conrad and Rebecca, the love of her life husband Maurice, her beloved daughter Bernadette Wilson, son-in-law Jack Wilson, great-grandson Phoenix; her brothers Zoel (Joe), Dennis, Gilbert, Roger and Leonard and her sister Diana Helland; sisters-in-law Irene McGirr and Dorothy Rowson and brothers-in-law Roland and Gilbert Delorme.
