Marie Checco

have a memory or condolence to add?

April 29, 2018

Just was informed of the passing of Marie. She was a warm fun loving person, who lived her life graciously. My condolence to the family. May you continue to get stronger each day by the abundance of moral support from close friends. and acquaintances, and above all, be comforted by the promise of the God above, when he brings Marie back from her resting place, for all to have the joy of embracing her again. (Job 14:13-15) May this comfort and bring you peace.

I have known Maria all my life...she was certain that she was cousins with my mother, Mary, and my Aunt Ange. She always had the Greek spirit in her, when she cooked, laughed, or danced. She came to see every play I appeared in, and always brought me flowers and a bottle of wine. She was there for me when my mother passed away..... I hope you are all laughing and dancing now... I love you and will miss you dearly.

Our "Aunt" Marie treated us like family. Her smile would always light up beyond any room. No matter the weather, the day or the time, Aunt Marie was always glad to see us. Aunt Marie always made us feel at home. And when we visited, Aunt Marie always had food enough to feed an army...spanakopita, cookies, salads, cheeses, main dishes...everything to make sure that we were never hungry, always nourished and making sure we knew Aunt Marie loved and enjoyed our company and visits.

Aunt Marie would always listen intently to anything we were talking about. You always knew that Aunt Marie valued everything and anything we said. Our "Uncle" Bobby and Aunt Marie were a wonderful team. Aunt Marie was the "straight woman" of this wonderful team. Her timing was impeccable. Many times Aunt Marie would sit, listen, roll her eyes in a comical, yet respectful way, of every police academy or fire academy story her husband and partner, "Uncle Bobby" would tell. Aunt Marie didn't 't say much during these enjoyable memories and stories by Uncle Bobby, but she was like E.F. Hutton. When she spoke, we all listened!

As we look at the picture of Aunt Marie standing behind the "Parking for Greeks Only" sign, it reminds us that Aunt Marie was so proud of her Greek heritage and Ancestry...and just as proud to be an American.

That picture of Aunt Marie behind that sign makes us realize that she is standing behind an even greater sign.....

...."Entrance to God's Kingdom for All"... and rest assured that Aunt Marie will be behind that sign, smiling and greeting all that enters!

We love you Aunt Marie.
