October 1, 1956 – March 3, 2019
Mary Alice Breslin, 62, passed suddenly on March 3, 2019.
Mary was born Oct. 1, 1956. Daughter of the late William and Florence McKenna and sister of the late William Jr. She is survived by her son, Kevin William Breslin, her siblings Michael McKenna, Teresa McKenna, Sean McKenna, and her many nieces and nephews.
Raised in Levittown, New York, Mary moved to Roosevelt Island in her early twenties when started her job on the tram. She quickly decided to make the island her home and became a long time resident. In 1992 she began to raise her son, Kevin, there. Mary was a devoted and loving mother who gave everything she could to her son. Kevin was what she was most proud of in life and she would not hesitate to tell anyone who would listen. Kevin became just as fond of the island life, and will continue to make her proud. This we are certain.
Mary truly loved the companionship of a very special Irish Setter. Together Mary and Kevin increased their family with “McKenna”, the loyal and faithful dog who was named in memory of Grandpa McKenna. We expect they will get a chuckle out of that as she reunites with her parents in heaven.
Another way Mary showed her love was through her amazing ability to cook and bake. Mary loved being in the kitchen and was especially talented at creating the most delicious meals and desserts. The family will fondly remember her when “eating real slow like Aunt Mary and savoring every bite”.
Mary will be greatly missed. Her memory will stay alive in the hearts of all that knew and loved her. She was truly a special person.
As we all gather here today we can take solace in knowing Mary has found peace and is wrapped in the arms of our Lord.
