Vincent Semet was born on August 28, 1930 in Dobrinj, Croatia. He grew up with his parents, two brothers and a sister. They were very poor. His father often worked several jobs just to get by. Vincent decided to leave Croatia to come to America for a better future. He was sponsored by his uncle and lived with him when he first arrived. He enrolled in English classes to improve his language skills, where he met his future wife - Helen. They started dating and decided to get engaged in 1960. They were married in Oct. 1961. They had 2 children, Carolyn and Dennis. Vincent was a devoted family man and worked as a Machinist to support his family. Sadly, his wife Helen died in Feb. 1997 after a battle with breast cancer. Vincent became a loving grandfather to 3 boys - Daniel, Justin, and Adam. He developed dementia in his 80’s and passed away peacefully on July 1, 2018, at the age of 87, surrounded by his daughter Carolyn, his son Dennis, and his daughter-in-law Mary. He will always be remembered as a happy, loving, giving man by those who knew him.
