Neal was born in West Plains, MO April 16, 1940. In 1943, the family drove out to CA and settled in Templeton. Neal grew up living in the house on the corner of 6th and Crocker St. across from the city park. He attended Templeton schools from 1st thru 12th grades graduating in 1958.
After graduation, Neal worked for Ennis Business Forms and married school sweetheart, June Scott July 1, 1959.
Shortly after, Neal was invited to move to San Rafael, CA to learn the floor covering trade. While living in San Rafael, son Jon was born. Eighteen months later, Neal became a partner along with Gary Browning at B&E Floor Covering in Paso Robles. Three years later, son Yantzee was born completing the Everett family.
After nearly 6 years, Neal changed careers and was hired by Chevron Pipeline Co. at the Estero Marine Terminal in Moro Bay, CA. During his 24 years, Neal filled many positions and made many friends at Estero. Neal became fast friends with fellow Chevron employee, Dan Raminha who also loved to hunt. The two hunted the local hills and made yearly hunting trips to OR for 20+ years. Neal retired from Chevron in 1990.
While working in Morro Bay, the family home was built in Atascadero where both Jon and Yantzee graduated from high school. Neal along with several friends started the Atascadero Trail Riders with Neal being president of the group in 1986.
After retirement, Neal and June moved to his old hunting grounds in Joseph, OR. Following the passing of Neal's dad in 1995, they returned to Templeton to live in the Everett family home. Neal returned to work for Chevron as a pipeline inspector and dismantling stations. During this time, Neal underwent a triple bypass surgery which then resulted in a stroke. He was able to function well for several years but eventually the stroke took its toll. Neal remained interested in events around Templeton however. At the age of 14, he began his love affair of hot rods which never waned. Neal and son Jon spent many hours working together to restore several vehicles including the last two hot rods, a beautiful 1941 Chevrolet and handsome 1940 Ford Deluxe Coupe.
Neal never officially joined many clubs besides the ATR. However, he was a Master Mason since 1967. He enjoyed meeting with other Chevron retirees and their wives for a monthly breakfast which came to an end when COVID hit.
Neal is preceded in death by his father Winfard Everett, mother Burelis Everett, sister Linda Brown, son Jon Everett, brother-in-law Ivan Scott, and in-laws Ross and Louesa (Casteel) Scott.
