I am so blessed and fortunate having had Charity as a friend. When I met her at Keuka College in 1962, I could only hope we would share the best lifetime of friendship!  It has been a wonderful 64 years!
Charity always cared for others, giving herself to friends and community activities and was always concerned for others.  She loved and enjoyed her family, she also liked having a good time and never left without “big red smooches.”  People felt her heart and kindness.
We are sorry to have lost our dear friend.
Jim, boys and families and Hope, you are in our thoughts and prayers and love to you all.

Charity Lee Marlatt was my godmother. I believe she had just turned seventeen. To many families the title of godmother or godfather isn't taken very seriously, particularly amongst contemporary society. Today, people tend to think of the terms godmother and godfather as being closer to figurehead roles than being active participants in the godchild's life. That relationship becomes neverending. And that's the way it was between my Aunt Charity and me. She was one of the few touchstones I've had over the years and I shall regret never letting her in on the secret.

My Aunt Charity always held tightly to her "Old School " values and treated me as though I was something special for what was to be her entire adult life. Though we never lived close enough to see each other often, we should see much of my extended family when we could make the trip home to see everyone over the holidays. But even then, we could only make the time to join everyone every third year, or thereabouts. But with my aunt Charity, time and distance seemed to only bring us closer and we'd pickup right where we left off perhaps two, sometimes as much as four years ago! 

I know I'm not the only one that she left feeling special. She gave of her own positive energies to make other's feel good about themselves. That was her magic! 💥

"Aunt" Charity was truly a remarkable woman who left a lasting impression on every one she encountered.  Her smile and vivacious exuberance was contagious.  May she be lifted to heaven on angels wings.  Sending all our love to her husband, children and grandchildren and all of the family and friends who will miss her dearly.  I know how much she meant to me and our daughter Hannah and my husband Adam.  The good lord has undoubtedly cleared a beautiful spot for her to work her magic in heaven as she did here on earth.

Jim & Family -  I offer you my condolences as you grieve the loss of dear Charity.  She was a bright, sparkling light who made the world better. I am so sad that I won't see her again.  May her memory be a blessing.

Charity was the most loving person we have ever met.  We have only
know her for three  years, but her passing leaves a big hole
in our hearts and our lives.   Love you, Charity.  You will be missed.

Thinking of all of the many interactions we have had with Charity. She will be missed, but remembered always.i loved to POP in whether it be Walnut Creek, Keene Valley, or Atascaderos she was always glad to see us and loved to visit. Glad for the memories!

How much we are going to miss you. You were always up for a celebration, and with your charming personality, you had a way of bringing joy and warmth wherever you went. You truly were the life of the party, and your presence made every gathering feel more special.

Your name, Charity, means love, kindness, generosity, and giving to others, and you truly lived the meaning of your name. You were loving and caring, always looking out for your boys and making sure they were okay. Your generosity and the love you gave so freely to the people around you will never be forgotten.

I like to think that you are now in heaven, looking down on us and watching over us. I hope that all of your joy, love, and beautiful energy continue to surround us and remain in our hearts.

Thank you, Charity, for simply being you. Thank you for the memories, the conversations, the laughter, and for all the beautiful moments you gave us. 
You have left a special place in our hearts that will always be yours.

I met Charity when we were PTA mothers at our children’s’ elementary school and a small group of us became close friends. One year Charity suggested we join our kids’ Halloween parade. We dressed up as raisins and, with the aide of a boom box, marched to “I Heard it Through the Grape Vine”.  On the occasion of a school talent show Charity suggested we do a choreographed routine in black slacks, white shirts and carrying canes. When I think of those early days of our friendship with Charity I remember fun, music and dancing.

She was a wonderful yoga and general mentor. Sending condolences to Jim and family. She will be missed.

I met Charity over the phone in 2020 when she told me all about her beloved sister, Hope, and she wanted to send a few bottles of Austin Hope wine to her sister. During a time when the world seemed to need it, I remember leaving that conversation feeling lighter and hopeful.  Shortly after that, Charity became a member of our Wine Club.  Any time she and Jim came to the winery, she would ask to say hello to me.  Each and every interaction with Charity and Jim was one I would exit feeling more joy, knowing that these were two very special people and we were blessed to have them as members and friends.  To say, Charity left a beautiful mark on our entire team at Austin Hope is an understatement.  She will be missed and we will all walk through the world better for knowing her.  And, Jim, we are here and look forward to celebrating with a toast to your beautiful wife and love story.

I think my very first memory of Charity is when we were looking for a wedding venue, and we unexpectedly stopped at Jim and Charitys beautiful Keene valley home. This was the very first extended family member I met in person and I had no idea the personality I would be meeting! Charity had a way of connecting with new and old friends like no other. I am so grateful that I knew this beautiful light, and was able to absorb some of her sunbeams that she put out into the world. Thinking of her family, and hoping her memory continues to shine her beautiful light onto you.
