Dan has been the greatest blessing of my life, my soulmate and love of my life. His beloved dogs (our kids) and I miss him desperately, as do all of the critters here at Solborg Farm. As he requested, Dan's ashes will be buried under a redwood tree that Dan planted himself.
Dan would want to thank everyone for the love and support we have been shown over the years by our neighbors on Toro Creek, the local Fellowship, the Swedish Vallhund family, and of course amazing friends and family.
As a dedication, we gratefully accept these beautiful and perfect heartfelt sentiments from Dan's friends and family.

Dan’s Legacy is Solborg Farm. For 30 years, Dan has given his heart and soul to the creation of this paradise we call home: Solborg Farm. He worked very hard every single day to make a safe and comfortable home for us and our dogs. He created a healthy environment for our donkeys and chickens, plus for all of the wild birds, trout, newts, turtles and other wildlife.
Dan’s spirit will live forever in our hearts and the hearts of our dogs, as well as in every tree and flower and garden he planted on our farm. His ashes will become part of this world he loved so much.

A few memories of Dan: We first met Dan in 2008. We went to the farm to meet Dan and Ivy and their dogs. Dan had been out the night before, catching chickens. Someone had dumped some near the farm and he waited until dark so he could grab them as they roosted and make sure they got a safe home. This kindness was his hallmark. He loved nature and believed in coexisting in peace, even with the snakes. He was a Big Brother to boys who really benefited from being with such a gentle, capable man. He didn't need "things" to be wealthy. He knew what really mattered in life and was a happy, contented person. We will sorely miss this gentle soul.

Tribute to Dan from his niece, Mariela Renquist
Once upon a time, there was a little girl who dreamed of dragons. She saw towers over the horizon and magic out of the corner of her eye. Her parents didn't really know where she got her imagination, but fortunately, she had an uncle. Her uncle taught her about the power of books to explore the worlds beyond this one. He brought her to bookstores, let her explore his home library, and told her many many stories. He taught her to find magic in glass, and in the little creatures that make their home in the stream. He always encouraged art, not as something trivial to pass the time, but as an imperative to live life to the fullest. And that little girl grew up and spent many years away, but because of her uncle, never stopped dreaming of dragons.
