Gary passed January 30,2026, very peacefully with his wife Lucia, and daughter, Shawnee Wildey by his side at Templeton Hospital after a broken leg surgery.
He was born December 19,1933 in Oakland,CA. When his father worked on the Oakland Bay Bridge. It was during the depression. After a very short time in Oakland they moved to Fort Peck Mountain where he attended 1st & 2nd grade.
In 1941 they moved to Panama where his father was employed as an ironworker. Here he attended 3rd grade.
In 1943 they bought a very minimal ranch out of Wolf Point, Montana. They had no electricity or plumbing. Gary attended a country school from 4th to 8th grade. It was 2 miles from home and he rode his horse to school. On the cold, wintery days his Dad drove him. When Gary was 13 his brother, Arlie was born.
As the country school only went to 8th grade. He had to go to Nashua to High School. A very tough time, as he has to stay away from his ranch home all week and room and board in town. Gary graduated from high school in 1951. After which he attended the colleges of Montana State Bozeman and Great Falls. In 1954 he joined the Marine Corps. When he was discharged in 1956 he went back to Montana State, Bozeman and then in 1958 was accepted to Veterinary School at Washington State Pullman where he graduated in 1962.
He then worked as a relief vet in several small animal hospitals in Seattle, and a short time in a meat packing plain in Billings, Montana.
In July of 1963 Gary met his wife Lucia(Lu) in Bozeman, Montana. After a very short courtship they married in September 14,1963 at the Soldiers Chapel in Gallatin Valley, Montana.
Their 1st year of marriage they worked in Glasgow Montana. Gary practiced in a very busy mixed practice and built a Veterinary Hospital. This was totally a mixed practice - Country& Clinic. After 5 years the practice & hospital were sold & they moved to Southern California. Gary worked for a very popular Equine Vet in Fullerton,CA thus helping prepare him for his Yorba Linda practice which he started a year later building a Hospital with surgery facilities & working with 3 other Veterinarians.
After 12 years in Yorba Linda he sold the practice & moved to Paso Robles in 1981. He kept seeing clients for another 20 years after which time he worked around our home and ranch. During this time he did extensive Missionary work in Haiti, Nicaragua and Mongolia until his passing in 2026.
Gary is survived by his wife Lucia of 62 years, his brother Arlie Gordon, his son Chance Gordon, his daughter Shawnee Wildey, his granddaughter Courtney Tencati, and his grandson Tristan Wildey, Noah Wildey, Caleb Wildey & grandson Sebastian Gordon & Samsara Gordon, grand daughter.
