Truly a guy who cared for everyone, Greg had an unbelievably magnetic personality and was friends to all. He touched the hearts of all who knew him. Greg was born October 1974 to James and Shirley Porter at Paso Robles Hospital. In high school, he was class president all four years, becoming student body president as a senior as well as a top 30 student. He played on both the Atascadero High School golf and football teams. Greg graduated from the University of the Pacific at Stockton in 1995 with a degree in Business Management. His financial career began at ML Stearns in Monterey, followed by opening an Edward Jones office in Templeton. He then went into banking working at First Bank of SLO, then Heritage Oaks Bank as a loan officer. During this time Greg was honored as a 'Top 20 Under 40 Business Professionals' by The Tribune. He then moved on to become Branch Manager at Coast Hills Credit Union in Atascadero. He was a member of the Rotary Club, served on the Atascadero Planning Commission and was on the board of Loaves and Fishes. Greg is survived by his parents; his daughters: Gabrielle and Sophia; brother, Gary; nephews: Travis and Zachary; uncles and aunts: Jud and Christie Porter, Jack and Cathy Porter, Jim and Betty Miller, and Lynne and Larry Marquez; and eight very close cousins. Greg loved and adored his girls more than anything. He cherished their Disneyland trips, watching them play sports and just hanging out together. The Porter family would like to thank the many doctors and medical professionals who helped Greg over the past years with his medical challenges. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 28, 2018, at the Atascadero Bible Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or the Atascadero Loaves and Fishes. Greg was close to God and is now resting in his care.
