COULTER, Joe Daniel, 86, of Paso Robles, CA passed away on December 26, 2014. Joe was born in Poplarville, Mississippi, to a family of Southern Baptist Ministers. He had a very strict upbringing, and for his 17th birthday, his parents granted his wish to join the Navy by signing the necessary paperwork. During his time in the Navy, Joe was on the USS Copahee, where he was a member of the catapult division. Joe absolutely loved his time in the Navy, speaking of it fondly throughout his life; often times wishing he had made a career of it. After his time in the Navy, Joe worked for Pacific Bell for 34 years. In 1962, he married his wife Barbara. They were married for 52 years. After Joe retired, he enjoyed woodworking, or as he would put it, “making sawdust,” creating bowls and candlestick holders, and even a train for the Elks Lodge. Joe and Barbara were also involved in the renovation of the “Cook Shack.” Joe was a very active member of the Atascadero Elks. Joe was also a Paso Robles Trail Rider, where he enjoyed camping and riding horses. Joe is survived by his wife; Barbara; daughter, Ann Greene; grandsons, Dan and Matthew Greene and three great-grandchildren; Nick, Jen and Emily. He also leaves behind the many friends and people that he was fortunate enough to meet in his lifetime. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of the Roses. Following the service, all are invited to attend a light lunch at the Atascadero Elks Lodge.
