Jim was born in June 1957 to Ken and Kathy Hansen. He was the oldest of four children. He grew up in Morro Bay, and attended Morro Bay schools. He moved to Atascadero with his wife Alison, in 1985, and together they raised three children, Jim worked in the construction trade for over 40 years, specializing in underground utilities. He worked for Whitaker Contractors for the last 25 years, where he made many good friends Jim and Alison attended Vineyard Christian Fellowship together for a number of years.
Jim will be remembered for his generous and giving heart. He showed his love for others through cooking, sharing from his garden, and by giving away bags of freshly caught fish. He was hard working, resourceful, and brave. Family and friends would often say that Jim was the one person they would choose if stranded on a desert island. Jim was a man's man, but gentle and kind with his pets. He was extremely artistic and could do, or fix, about anything.
Jim loved to fish, and was a master at filleting fish. He enjoyed sharing his passion with others. He loved the outdoors in general, and spent time hiking, camping, and fishing with his family and friends, whom he loved dearly.
Jim is survived by his wife Alison of 38 years, daughter Sarah (Brandon) Bournonville, son Ryan (Jen) Hansen, and son Matthew Hansen. He is also survived by his grandchildren Connor, Kayla, Chloe, Brady, and Emerson, his brother Danny Hansen, his sister Kelly (Ilan) Bilu, and his brother Jay Hansen; as well as many extended family members and friends. His parents Ken and Kathy Hansen precede Jim in death.
