

RUBY F. HINDT-DUPREY (nee Steen) 91, of Atascadero, California, formerly of Mount Clemens, Michigan, died on Friday, July 11, 2025 at home surrounded by family. She was born on November 30, 1933 in Iowa City, Iowa.
Ruby was a 47-year resident of California, moving from Mount Clemens, Michigan.
While living in Michigan, she was employed as a Long Distant Operator for Michigan Bell, a Waitress and a Secretary in the Accessors Office at Harrison Township Offices. After arriving to California in 1978, she was employed as a structural engineer for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Company in Long Beach, California working on C17’s, MD80’s and in the parts department delivering parts to other facilities.
Ruby is predeceased by husbands, Edward C. Hindt and Joseph F. Duprey; parents, William H. and Mary C. Steen; siblings, Marjorie Steen, Maribel Barnes, William L. Steen (Mary); step father, Winfred Valentine and son-in-law, Chester M. Myers.
She is survived by children; Edward C. Hindt, Jr. (Paula), of Auberry, CA, James L. Hindt (Barbara) of Crescent City, CA, Kenneth P. Hindt (Sylvia), of Harrison Township, MI, Kathryn M. Hindt of Atascadero, CA and Ruth M. Myers of Paso Robles, CA. Also survived by grandchildren; Lisa Book (Tim) of Clovis, CA, Edward C. Hindt, III of Auberry, CA, Krystal Helberg (Steve) of Heritage Ranch, CA, Jason Hindt, of Chester County, S.C, Heidi Cummings (Virgil) of Clinton Township, MI, Dawn Carmody (Sean) of Holt, MI, James Barron (Michelle) of Troy, MI, Lora Barron, of Ypsilanti, MI, Rebecca Mione (Abraham) of Clinton Township, MI, Katie Rhoades, of Kent, WA; many great- grandchildren, great- great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Ruby enjoyed traveling, knitting, scrabble, euchre, thrifting and airplanes (she could tell you anything and everything about planes). She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
Cremation arrangements by Chapel of Roses, Atascadero, CA. Inurnment will be in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery, Clinton Township, MI. A Memorial service will be held at a later date at the cemetery for family and friends.
