Bud Mercer, age 101, of Paso Robles gently passed from this life to the next on October 27, 2014. With Bud’s passing, we’ve lost one of our last, great vaudevillians. There will be no more. For more than 70 years he performed with his brother Jim as the Mercer Brothers and in the early days his sister Rose Marie. We rejoice in his life on this earth as did he. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on September 5th, 1913 – the year of the big flood, he always used to tell people. He was a student of life, sharing his experiential knowledge of life with one and all. This charismatic man had a passion for life, his family and his faith and will be missed by everyone. He is survived by his children, Linda [Larry] Mercer of Paso Robles, Buddy [Pearl] Mercer of San Clemente and Bonnie [Bill] Mugford, of Seminole, FL; grandchildren Andy [Tina] Glynn of Pinellas Park, FL, Jason [Tamra] Curry of Branson, MO, Chad Mercer and Lionora Mercer of Miami, FL and San Clemente, CA; great-grandchildren Matthew Glynn, and Tim and Tyler Curry. Bud also leaves friend and ex-wife Daphne, and numerous nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his wife and friend Eileen, and his beautiful wife Vanita, the mother of his children, as well as, his brothers, Bob, Richard, and James and sister Rose Marie. A memorial service, celebrating his incredible life will be held at San Luis Obispo Unity Church, 1130 Orcutt Road, San Luis Obispo on Saturday, November 22nd at 1:00pm and is open to all. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to a charity of your choice.
