

She was born May 3, 1937, in Atlanta, Georgia to Martin Luther Humphries and Elizabeth Humphries.
Barbara loved to read. She was a member of Sweet Springs Baptist Church. She was a show cat breeder for 14 years, memorial chairman of the American Cancer Society, helped with Athens Clean Community Commission. She was the President of Floral Arts Club, Treasurer of Glen Auger Garden Club, Helped with Athens Limestone Special Athletics. She always said, “I went to the best church in the world”, owner of Otasco store in Ardmore and she helped with Christians Helping Others. “There is a calling on my life as a soul winner and I thank the Lord! This is the number 1 thing in my life.”
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Royce Burt.
Barbara is survived by two sons Curtis Burt of Elkmont, AL and Todd Burt of Madison, AL. four grandchildren Haley McClusky (Dustin), Whitney Braswell (T.J.) Cade Burt (Hayden) Kennedy Burt and one great grandchild Ryleigh McCluskey.
Visitation will be Friday August 28, 2026, from 11:00-12:50 P.M. at McConnell Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will follow at 1P.M. at McConnell Memorial Chapel with Tony Boyles officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers family asks memorials to be made for Sweet Springs Baptist Church Missions.
