Mrs. Newton passed away Wednesday October 11, 2017 at Athens Limestone Hospital.
She was born May 30, 1931 in Alabama to Carl Jackson Carr and Cassie Lee Owens.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Charles H. Newton, one son Jackie Newton, and two brothers James Carr and Carl Franklin Carr.
Mrs. Newton was an animal lover.
She is survived by two sons Johnny Newton and wife Judy of Athens, Jimmy Newton of Athens, two daughters Shirley Looney of Tanner, and Betty Joyce Self and husband Johnny of Athens, and one brother Bobby Carr of Athens, five grandchildren Randy Self, C.J. Newton, Jamie Newton, Becky Christopher, Andy Newton, six great grandchildren Justin Self, Dawson Wayne Newton, Sydney Gail Newton, Emily Christopher, Khloe Christopher, and a beloved cat and best friend Baby.
