Dora Geneva “Bobbie Jean” Bradford Brooks, 95, of Rogersville, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Limestone Health and Rehab. She was born February 28, 1930, in Walker County Alabama to Erman Robert Bradford and Minnie Alice Sims Bradford.
Mrs. Brooks is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 31 years, Lester H. Brooks, one brother, Erman Robert “Bud” Bradford, Jr. two sisters, Beulah Stough, Viola Clark, one grandson, William “Will” Brooks.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Martinez (Richard); one son, Mike Brooks (Patsy); one sister, Venita Stith; three grandchildren: Seth Brooks (Karrie), Leslie Owens (Brock), Cade Brooks (Mackenzie); eight great-grandchildren: Tanner, Emery, and Renee Owens, Tyson and Koen Hicks, Hannah Cate, Robert “Bo” and Katherine “Kat” Brooks; three nieces: Brenda Key, Deborah Wilkinson, and Cynthia Bradford; three honorary grandchildren: Todd, Terri, and Tracy.
Mrs. Brooks retired from South Central Bell after 30 years of service. She worked at RSVP from 1985-2015, where she worked for Betty Ruth Oliver. She and Lester loved camping (especially in Townsend, TN), traveling, square dancing, and playing Rook. Following her husband’s passing, she enjoyed traveling with her special friend, Lella Ruth Thrasher. She was a member of Hobbs Street Church of Christ.
The funeral service will be Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 2 p.m. at McConnell Memorial Chapel with Bill Irby officiating. The visitation will be from 12 – 1:50 p.m. The burial will be at Lentzville Cemetery.
The pallbearers will be Seth Brooks, Cade Brooks, Tyson Hicks, Brock Owens, Tanner Owens and Ray Hill.
Honorary pallbearers will be Koen Hicks, Bo Brooks, Alan Thornton, and Steve Brooks.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Children’s of Alabama or Ronald McDonald House.
