Chris was a kind and bright individual who displayed tremendous creativity from little on. He was always curious about the world and loved to read and learn new things. He was a blessed child, but struggled for much of his adult life with debilitating mental health issues. Until the very end, he tried to overcome the anguish that tormented him so. Amidst all his struggles, he was a loving father to his daughters Eden and Audrey and they, in return, loved him with abandon.
Chris was loved and will be remembered by an extended family in Germany, where he was born and spent the early years of his life. His partner Fran Brown and his daughters Eden and Audrey will miss not only his sweet, loving nature, but also his wicked sense of humor. Chris’ extended family in Alabama (Athens and Dothan) mourns his loss deeply. His life was blessed and enriched by the loving presence of his Great Uncle Rowe Croley, who was a rock in Chris’ life for many years.
His mother, Maria Höhn, and his father, Charles Geiger extend their most heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and EMTs at Limestone and Huntsville Hospitals for all they have done for Chris.
To keep Chris’ memory alive for Eden and Audrey, and for all the family and friends who loved him, the family established a prize for a graduating history major at Vassar College, where his mother teaches. The prize honors a student who is the first in their family to graduate from college, or an outstanding student who has shown resilience in the face of adversity.
