

He was born on October 6, 1954, in Dayton, Ohio, to Mattie Lee Stockton Bailey and Robert Lee “Bob” Bailey.
Dave graduated from Tennessee Technological College in 1976 and was employed as an electrical design engineer from 1976 until his retirement in 2019. He was also an Amateur Radio enthusiast. His call sign was WB8ION.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a special aunt, Emogene Kennedy, who lived with Dave and his wife for 4 years.
He is survived by his wife Sandra “Faye” Pressnell Bailey and her children, Amanda Harbin (Stan) and Wesley Jarrett (Holly); eight grandchildren: Will, Katie, Ethan, Anna, Karaline, Devlin, Lorelai, and Olive; and two great grandchildren: Mabel and Bennett. Niece Christy Schrimsher, nephew Jeffrey Schrimsher (Erin), and their children: Tobias, Silas, Mason, and Matthew Odie.
David is also survived by Bob’s wife, Mildred “Nell” Monroe Bailey, her children: Charlotte Monroe Biscotto (Mike), Rick Monroe (Tena), and Jerry Monroe; several nieces and nephews.
A private Remembrance Service for close friends and family will be held Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 3:00 pm at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel, Athens, AL. Slides and music chosen by Dave will be shared from 2:00 to 3:00 pm. Doug Fields officiating. No interment will follow.
