
Graveside service for Mrs. Eva Marie Wellden Smith, age 84 of Athens, will be Sunday, December 30, 2012 at 3:30 p.m. at Athens City Cemetery with the Honorable Jimmy Woodroof and Johnny Orr officiating. Mrs. Smith died Friday, December 28, 2012 at Athens Limestone Hospital.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 30, 2012 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Smith was born December 27, 1928 in Limestone County to James Elmo Wellden and Eva B. Marlowe Wellden. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Athens.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Mr. Harold Crutcher Smith.
She is survived by one son, Roland C. Smith and wife Pam of Athens; one daughter, Susan Smith Anderson and husband Bill of Athens; two brothers, James E. Wellden, Jr. and wife Joan of Panama City, FL; Andy Wellden and wife Linda of Athens; three sisters, Doris Lamon of Birmingham, AL; Shirley Mullins and husband Toby of Decatur, AL; Mary Orr and husband Johnny of Brentwood, TN; five grandchildren, Cece Anderson and husband Greg, Shannon Hutton and husband Ben, Ben Anderson and wife Kate, Crutcher Smith and wife Shana, Emily Farris and husband Corey, 13 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be her nephews Dr. Eston G. Norwood III, Nick Allen, and Billy G. Smith, and her grandsons, Ben Hutton, Greg Anderson, Corey Farris, Crutcher Smith, and Ben Anderson. Honorary Pallbearer will be Doc Thompson.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County or First Baptist Church in Athens.
The family would like to express their thanks to Carol Dean, Shirley Mefford, Holly Roberts, Cara Webster, Janice Cox, and Joan Vinson for the love and dedication shown to their mom for these last few months.
