Gerald Benjamin Shindorf, 82 of Athens, passed away Friday, September 5, 2025, at his residence. Mr. Shindorf was born March 11, 1943, in Belding, MI to Hubert Shindorf and Catherine Marie Ward Shindorf. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is also preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Bill and Tony Shindorf.
Survivors include his loving wife, Rose, of 63 years, one daughter, Kathy Thornton and husband, Bryan; two sons, Chris Shindorf and wife, Kim; Scott Shindorf and wife, Amy; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Dana, Zachary, Shawnta and husband, Preston, Krystal, and husband, Ethan, Christopher and wife Libby, Christian and husband, Ian; eight great-grandchildren, AJ, Fynlee, Landon, Lily, Elliot, Everett, Walker, and AJ.
Mr. Shindorf graduated from Belding High School in Michigan. He worked for 18 years at Belco in Michigan. He moved to Athens and began work at Steelcase as a superintendent of maintenance for 23 years before his retirement.
He was an avid Alabama football fan.
