He died Friday, June 10, 2011 at home.
Mr. Sims was born March 1, 1942 to Hoyt E. Sims Sr. and Beulah Andrews Sims. He loved fishing and calling all his family on the phone.
When his wife, Pat Sims, was alive, they did everything together including dancing, bowling, fishing and traveling. They were married 24 years.
Mr. Sims retired from the military after 20 years. He also retired from restaurant management.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Sims; his father, Hoyt E. Sims Sr.; brother, Ernest F. Sims and sister Kathy B. Sims.
He is survived by daughters, Lisa Gaye Godsey and husband Jeff of Greenville, S.C., Lana Dee Rosier and husband Ken of Evans, Ga.; mother Beulah Sims of Alexander City; brother, J.T. Sims and wife Cindy of Millbrook; sisters, Shirley Robinson of Wetumpka, Mary Siniard and husband Sam of Athens, Terry Hedrick and husband Jack of Alexander City and Dot Causey and Pat Sims of Alexander City; grandchildren, Laura Wesley, Adam Godsey, Ariel Godsey, Noah Godsey, Kyle Tedder, Drew Kirschner, Harley Kirschner and Kris Gilmer; stepsons, Steve Middlebrooks and wife Jessica and Eddie Middlebrooks; and step-grandchildren, Molly Hand and Katy Jean.
Pallbearers will be Shane Causey, Bobby Robinson, Chad Siniard, Rex Sims, Larry Chandler and Bobby Nixon.
