The Funeral Service for James Leon Hill, 79, of Ardmore, will be Wednesday March 27, 2019 at 11 A.M. at McConnell Memorial Chapel with Jeff Drake officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday March 26, 2019 from 6-8 P.M at McConnell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hatchett Cemetery. Mr. Hill passed away on Sunday March 24, 2019 at his residence. He was born August 9, 1939 in Limestone County, AL; to Jack Hill and Eular Colston Hill. Mr. Hill was a retired brick mason and business owner. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Willie, Wendell, and Danny Hill; and two sisters Catherine Carwile and Lille Posey. Mr. Hill was survived by two daughters Teresa Mappin and husband Gary of Thompson Station, TN; Sandy Johnson and husband Nicky of Ardmore, TN.; three brothers Jackie Hill and wife Linda of Athens, Al; Dwight Hill and wife Kay of Athens, AL; Charles Hill and wife Jean of Decatur, AL; four sisters Delanie Wilson of Addison, AL; Sadie Croley and husband Kenneth of Athens, AL; Dorothy Newton and husband Dexter of Anderson, AL; Kathy Perry of Ardmore, AL; one sister-in-law Judy Hill of Ardmore, TN; four grandchildren Nicholas Johnson of Madison, AL; Blake Johnson and wife Stephanie of Ardmore, AL; Hillary Crews and husband Jake of Clarksville, TN; Garrett Mappin of Thompson Station, TN; one great grandchild Nolan Johnson. Pallbearers will be Garry Mappin, Nicky Johnson, Nicholas Johnson, Blake Johnson, Garrett Mappin, and Stanley Davis. Honorary Pallbearer will be Nolan Johnson.

I can still see Leon, with his cigar nub in his mouth, standing at third base coaching the team he loved. He was always giving signals to steal and waving for the girls to run, run. Outstanding coach.
He always had a rack in his hand getting the softball field ready for the game. Leon always worked hard helping with the Booster Club.
Leon Hill was a dear friend and will be missed by all.
