Visitation will be Wednesday August 25, 2021, at McConnell Funeral Home from 10:00am until 1:00pm. The funeral will be in the chapel at 1:00pm, with interment to follow at Fowlkes Cemetery. Speakers celebrating her life will be Carol Terry, and Susan Case.
Pallbearers will be Richard Davis, Carl Davis, William Davis, Mark Lamar, Dale Bates, and Mickey Terry. Honorary Pallbearers will be Leroy Davis, Lee Carruth, and Mason Carruth.
Ms. Carter is survived by her sons, Gerald “Jerry Bates”, and Roger Bates (Melanie); daughter, Kathy Tucker; sister, Susan Case; seven grandchildren, and twelve great-granchildren. The family would like to say a very special thanks to her caregiver, April Guy, for all of the work and care she has given their loved one.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Sarah Williams; son, Luke Bates, Jr.; and granddaughter, Courteney Elizabeth Wales.
