

The funeral for Louise McMahan Powers, 86, of Athens will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at McConnell Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Johnson officiating. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-9 tonight at the funeral home.
Mrs. Powers died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at Limestone Health Facility.
She was born March 16, 1924, in Limestone County to Posey Carl and Ella Rose McMahan, the oldest of seven children. She grew up in Horton Hollow of West Limestone. Mrs. Powers was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rabon W. Powers; two sons, Ronald W. “Ronnie” Powers and Larry Wayne Powers; a grandson, Rabon Morris Powers Jr.; a sister, Elizabeth McMahan; and a brother, Thomas Carl McMahan.
Survivors include three sons, Morris Powers and wife Dianne of Athens, Glenn Powers of Ardmore and Steve Powers and wife Mary of Pulaski, Tenn.; two daughters, Judy Rose of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., and Janice Murphy and husband Ray of Huntsville; three brothers, Cecil McMahan and wife Mamie, Chuck McMahan and wife Betty, and Donald McMahan and wife Judy, all of Athens; a sister, Robbie Nell Craig of Athens; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Tim Powers, Todd Powers, Larry Harless, Sam Thomas, Ray Murphy and Von Craig.
