Melissa Price Darby

Melissa Price Darby, 59 of Athens, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2025, at her residence. She was born August 24, 1966, in Kentucky to Tony Price and Janice Harlow Price. She is preceded in death by her mother.

Survivors include her father, Tony Price (Michelle) one daughter, Morgan Slone (Joshua); two sons, Patrick Darby and Wesley Darby; one sister, Marlee Lewis (Matt); three grandchildren, Brandon, Emma, and James. Survivors also include her mother-in-law, Pat Darby, and her sister-in-law, Martha Bowen (Trevor).

Melissa was a member of the Pepper Rd church of Christ; she was a strong woman that loved her children and grandchildren dearly. Her favorite place was the beach, and she enjoyed being active, paddle boarding, biking, or just playing outside with her grandkids. As a teacher, she had a love for helping children that lead her to foster and adopt, Wesley, in September of 2022. She persevered through many trials, but always tried to serve others before herself.

Psalm 34:17-20

17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears,

And delivers them out of all their troubles.

18 The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart,

And saves such as [a]have a contrite spirit.

19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous,

But the Lord delivers him out of them all.

20 He guards all his bones;

Not one of them is broken.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.
