Graveside service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Athens City Cemetery with Dave Wood officiating.
Visitation will be from noon until 1:45 Thursday at McConnell Funeral Home.
Mr. Bowers was retired from Shaw Ice Company. He enjoyed farming, driving a truck, and listening to country music.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robin and Christine Bowers.
Survivors include: one brother, Gordon (Mary) Bowers; one sister, Judy (Don) Barksdale; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be: David Bowers, Chris Bowers, Donnie Barksdale, Brad Carwile, David Poole, and Don Barksdale.
Memorial may be made to the charity of choice.
