

Mr. William Jackson (Bill) Beaver, aged 83, passed away Friday morning , September 19th, at the Genesis River City Rehab facility. He was born November 16, 1941, in Colbert County, the son of the late James (Jim) and Elsie Beaver.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Carol (née Carolyn Downs).
He is survived by one son, Tony (Wife Judy) Beaver of Athens Alabama, one daughter Angela Terry (husband Roger) of Hartselle Alabama. Three grandchildren Casey Terry and Cody Terry of Huntsville Alabama and Alexandra Beaver of Athens Alabama. One brother, Travis (Wife Elaine), Birmingham Alabama, one sister, Jane Riner, Baton Rouge Louisiana, and several nieces and nephews.
Bill was a member and elder of The First Presbyterian Church of Hartselle. He began his work career at Colbert County Hospital in Sheffield Alabama. He was later recruited to join the staff of Block & Chandler Hospital in Hartselle. After 4 years, he was recruited to join Hartselle Hospital where he worked for 24 years. He left Hartselle Hospital to join the founding team at the Decatur Med-Surg Center, where he worked until his retirement.
Bill loved their place on Smith Lake and Gulf Shores. He and Carol spent many days on the lake enjoying morning coffee on their sundeck and watching the sunsets in their prized porch swing. Bill also took great pride in his steak grilling ability and never missed an opportunity to share it with friends. He and Carol also loved Gulf Shores and for a short time owned a place at Wolf Bay Plantation. He also enjoyed the church night suppers held at his church. He was a rotational Sunday School teacher for the adult Sunday school class and enjoyed many spirited discussions with his fellow church members.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The First Presbyterian Church Hartselle, October 11, 2025, at 11:00 am.
