I was very saddened several months ago to first read of Mr. Mitchell's passing, although it has been over 5 years now. He taught me for two semesters at Athens Tech, back in 2008 or thereabout. He was one of the most fascinating, capable and intelligent people that I have ever been privileged to know, anywhere. He always seemed so alert and sharp, and seemed to have the answers for whatever situation could possibly arise. His passing is a painful but necessary reminder of the frailty and the uncertainty, apart from Christ Jesus, that this temporal life brings. Mr. Mitchell was a very wise man, who spoke of his beliefs very candidly regarding the Priesthood of The Christian, and other issues in my hearing. This is a reminder to all of us, that we should lay up our treasures in Heaven, in the Wonderful World of Jesus Christ, where He dwells. If we do this, the treasures that we invest there, will never pass away, and will never be stolen. We should and must use this life to secure the Investment that Jesus has placed in all of us, and that is the Calling that he has placed upon our lives as His Children. When we do this, we multiply and increase the talents and gifts that He has given us, as a wise businessman would grow his temporal, or fleeting business. How much more valuable is Christ's Eternal Business! If Mr. Mitchell were here today, he would tell you these same things, my friends. May God continue to bless Mr. Mitchell's family and loved ones as they always long for the clarity and the wisdom that he brought to life's situations. Someone said it best years ago: "Only one life will soon be past, only what's done for Christ shall last." Amen, God Bless You All.

I am saddened by Mitch's departure. He was a friend and mentor, who helped a lot in my Navy career. He was my boss on the USS Tripoli back in 1971, when I was a brand new ensign. He was gracious to me and my wife. We named our daughter Andrea Michelle, after his daughter Michelle. I will never forget the "old cuss," he was tough, but took care of his troops. I was sadden to hear the passing of Mr Albert Mitchell. He was a great and tremendous blessing to me in my very short time of knowing him. He will be greatly missed.

From Al's colleagues in General Education and all the faculty and staff at Athens Tech, we send our condolences. He enjoyed teaching so much, and his efforts were greatly appreciated by many, many students. We will miss him.

I had the opportunity on Thursday December 27 to visit with Mitch and Mary at Athens General Hospital, a memory I will cherish forever. Mitch and I were friends for 63 years having grown up together through scouting and sharing a tent  as Camp counselors for 8 weeks at Scout camp the summer of 1954. We shared many memories of car pooling rides, and double dating with girlfriends.
 I credit Mitch with opening the door for me to attend Naval Officer Candidate School. While he served his country with honor and pride for 28 years and I serve for 40 months, and then spent 47 years in the restaurant and hospitality industry, we remained in contact and kept the close friendship even though we were thousands of miles apart. I regret that I will only be at Mitch's funeral by thought and spirit as I chose to see him for the last time while he lived and shared those fond friendship memories. So sorry to hear of Mr. Mitchell's passing.  I always enjoyed talking with Mr. Mitchell at GSC.  He was always so sweet to me, and I know that all of the faculty and staff at GSC Oconee loved working with him. I will greatly miss his kind face and his smile.  My deepest condolences to the family.
