He was born September 27, 1915 in Oconee County and was a son of the late Rufus LaFayette Hale and Devonah Puckett Hale.
AJ was the oldest living member of Princeton United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and worked in the Wellington Cord Mill for 52 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Smith Hale.
Survivors include son, Dennis (Janet) Hale; daughter, Dolores Hale (Ned) Hughes; granddaughter, Denise Hughes Sampson (Craig); great-granddaughter, Lexi Irene Sampson; two great-grandsons, Turner Tyler and Kevan Tyler.
The family will receive friends Friday, October 21 from 10-11 a.m. at Bernstein Funeral Home with a graveside service at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park. Rev. Dee Dee Lawson will officiate.
