Anicia Lewis

A native of Brazil, she was the daughter of the late Simon and Bahia Topshe Luiz and was preceded in death by her husband Joseph (Joe) Deeb Lewis, sons Deeb Joseph Lewis and John Thomas Lewis, grandsons David Joseph Strickland and John Allen Strickland and son in law Billy Strickland. Mrs. Lewis along with her husband started Persian Rug Company in 1939 which they operated until 1998 when they retired. Mrs. Lewis was a member of both St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Catholic Center at UGA.

Survivors include daughters Josephine Lewis Strickland and JoAn Lewis Salloum and husband Tony both of Athens; granddaughters Terri S. Guy and Jeannie S. Haden; great granddaughters Danielle Guy, Lila Haden and Maggie Haden and longtime friend and caregiver Frances Sims.

Funeral services will be 11am Tuesday at the Catholic Center @ UGA with Father Tom Vigliotta and Father David Hyman officiating. Interment will follow in Oconee Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8pm Monday at Bernstein.
