

A native of Jackson County, GA, Mrs. Holcomb, a seventh generation of the Lavender family in the USA, was the daughter of the late Rufus M. Lavender and Vassie Ann Sorrells Lavender and was preceded in death by her husband, J. Harold Holcomb; brothers, Rufus T. Lavender and Dewitt E. Lavender and sisters, Una Lee Thomas, Eva A. Lavender, Margaret Francis Holland, and Katie Duel Suthard.
Mrs. Holcomb graduated Martin Institute High School, Jefferson, GA in 1940 and married J. Harold Holcomb in October of that same year Mrs. Holcomb was a member of Forest Heights Baptist Church and previously a member of Oconee Heights Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and vacation bible school worker and also served as a Girl Scout assistant leader. Mrs. Holcomb was a loving mother and good friend to many.
Survivors include daughter, Betty H. Griffith and husband, E. Lanier Griffith of Gainesville, GA; son, H. James Holcomb and wife, Lee Ann Holcomb of Savannah, GA; grandchildren, Nicki G. Rionda and husband, Jose Rionda of Morristown, NJ, Philip L. Griffith of Gainesville, GA, and step-grandson, Christian Fichter, Esq. and wife, Kelly of Atlanta, GA; great-grandchildren, Anne Grace Rionda and Jack Andrew Rionda both of Morristown, NJ; caring friend, Donna King, and a number of nieces and nephews,.
Funeral services will be held 4:30PM Sunday, July 7th in the chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Purdy officiating. Interment will follow at Booth Memorial Park, Hwy 330 in Barrow Co. A celebration dinner of Ann’s life will follow the interment at the Booth Park pavilion.
The family will receive friends from 5-7PM Saturday, July 6th at Bernstein.
