She was born in Hendersonville, North Carolina and was a daughter of the late Dr. Richard Chalfant and Marjorie Chalfant of Tifton, Georgia. Barbara was raised in Tifton, Georgia. She graduated from Georgia State University and attended the First Presbyterian Church of Tifton. She worked as a claims specialist for over 30 years at the Athens Social Security Office. She loved music and spending time with her fur babies.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, David Chalfant.
Survivors include her husband, David Swack; mother, Marjorie Chalfant; sister, Nancy Chalfant; her fur babies, Bella and Ariel.
A celebration of Barbara’s life is planned for Saturday, November 9, at 12:00 p.m., in the Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Dave Smith officiating. A reception will follow the service at the funeral home.
