

Barry was born in the Bronx, NY and spent an idyllic childhood in his beloved town of Syosett, Long Island where he completed high school before his parents, Seena and Paul “Pinky” Goldner moved the family to Cincinnati, OH. Barry attended Northwestern University before graduating with a history degree from Syracuse University. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the University of Dayton School of Law in 1978. Barry was licensed to practice law in Ohio, Indiana and Georgia, all states he lived as an adult.
Barry worked as an attorney at various practices throughout his career, finding bankruptcy and negotiating for personal injury to be most fulfilling. Barry had a genuine passion and unmatched concern for helping his clients. He spent about 20 years in Atlanta working and raising his family. Barry retired in Athens in 2018 and spent quality time with his family, becoming immersed in a slower pace of life and traveling with his wife of 37 years.
Barry is survived by his wife, Susan (Schwartz) Goldner, daughter, Valerie (Christopher) and son, Marc (Ariel) and their three amazing children: Lincoln, Delilah, and Violet. He is also survived by siblings: Robin Greenough of Weston, FL, Russell Goldner (Gale) and two nieces: Amanda and Tamara of Cincinnati. Additionally, he is survived by many other loving in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Barry is predeceased by his parents: Pinky and Seena Goldner and brother-in-law, David Greenough.
Funeral services will be held at Congregation Children of Israel temple at 115 Dudley Dr., in Athens, on Monday, March 31, at 3:00 p.m., with Rabbi Eric Linder of CCI officiating. Burial will follow at Oconee Hill Cemetery, 297 Cemetery St., Athens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Congregation Children of Israel in Athens or The William Breman Jewish Home in Atlanta where Barry was well cared for until his premature passing. The family wishes to extend sincere gratitude to all who visited, cared for, and celebrated life with Barry throughout the years. It is all of the love and memories we shared that truly are so very meaningful.
