From her hardscrabble beginnings, nothing was easy. This 1935 photo shows Mama with her baby sister, Joan, to her left.
She overcame many health challenges over the decades, and proved multiple medical doctors wrong about her ability to bounce back from serious ailments.
Remember the good times, and the remarkable journey she made in her 89 years.
