Carolyn Trigleth was born March 27, 1933, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Dorothy and George Unger and died on May 6, 2025, at the age of ninety-two. She was a faithful Christian and member of the Athens First United Methodist Church, Athens, GA. Her love of Jesus was displayed in many ways including asking many people she met if she could pray for them. She kept a book full of those people’s names, most of whom she only met once by chance, but their story was written in her prayer book. Over 269 entries were made from 2012 to 2023 and true to her word, each was mentioned at least once a month in her daily devotionals. Carolyn was a talented artist who worked in many mediums, creating pottery, paintings, and needlepoint. For the last decade she learned to make all types of beautiful cards that included her hand painted landscapes and floral arrangements. This hobby filled her time as she took on the job of sending these handmade gems to family, and church members during times of joy and the need for sympathy.
Carolyn married William Trigleth Jr., had three children, one grandchild and an extended family through marriage that included two daughters, three grandchildren, plus great and great-great grandchildren. Her life was full as over the years, the family raised the boys on a cattle ranch, then RV’ing across the country with husband Bill and finally moving to Athens, GA to help raise the joy of her life, granddaughter Reese. She was a mentor to many, and a loving and gracious presence to everyone she met. She was the epitome of a gentle woman who had strong convictions and great common sense only shared when asked for guidance. Carolyn’s, loving spirit, was admired for its optimism and conviction to never say anything negative about others or her circumstances.
Carolyn is survived by her immediate family, William Trigleth III, Geary Trigleth, David Trigleth and wife Cheryl, and her beloved pride and joy, granddaughter Stephanie Reese Trigleth.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
