Funeral services for Charles Gregory Threlkeld (“Gregg”) of Athens will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, March 17, at Grace Baptist Church in Watkinsville, officiated by Pastor Ed Strickland. Pall bearers are Blake Craft, Bryan Hooper, Lee Mason, Pete Bradbury, Tim Britton, and Jason Shepherd.
Gregg passed away on March 13, 2014.
Born in Athens, Georgia, Gregg was the son of Harold G. Threlkeld and Nell Childers T. Puckett, both also of Athens. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Bish Threlkeld; daughters Jamie Nichole and Jessica Renae; grandson Cameron Rawlings; brother James H. Threlkeld; sister-in-law Beth B. Threlkeld; nieces Katie T. Losurdo and Peggy T. Vanover; great nieces Meg Freeman, Libby Losurdo, Katharine Vanover, and Allie Vanover; and great nephew Nick Losurdo.
Gregg graduated from Clarke Central High School and earned an Associate degree from Valdosta State.
Gregg was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church in Watkinsville. He was instrumental in bringing the truth of Jesus Christ to many people. He was a loyal Georgia Bulldog fan. Even though he suffered from a severe spinal cord injury in 1995 after a car accident, he led a very active life. His injury did not inhibit his zest for life. He was loved by many.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on March 16 at Bernstein’s Funeral Home on the Atlanta Highway in Athens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Gregg’s memory to Grace Baptist Church, RU Fund or Youth Ministries, 6401 Hog Mountain Road, Watkinsville, GA 30677.
