

Born on April 18, 1941, in Columbus, Georgia, Lucy was the daughter of the late Joel Roy Burt and Celester Hand Burt. She attended Auburn University. Lucy enjoyed a long and successful career in office administration, working in both Nashville, TN, and Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. After retirement, she settled in Amelia Island, FL, later moving to Madison and Athens, GA, and cherished spending summers in Banner Elk, NC.
Lucy was known for her unwavering devotion to her family and friends. Always putting others before herself, she was the heart of her home and the foundation of her family. Her greatest joy in life was being surrounded by the people she loved, and her warmth, generosity, and grace touched everyone who knew her.
She was a devoted wife to her husband, Edward Thomas “Thom” Gray, and a loving mother to four sons: Edward Thomas “Tom” Gray Jr. (Jennifer), Ronald “Todd” Gray, John Tobias “Toby” Gray, and Patrick Brian Gray (Elizabeth). The Gray family built a rich and joyful life together.
Lucy was a proud and adoring grandmother to eight grandchildren: Mollie, Marshall (Bailey), Andy, Zane, Jack, Dylan, Cate, and Hobson, and a beloved great-grandmother to Jonas and Mason.
She was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Todd Gray, as well as her parents and five brothers: Joel L. Burt, Henry R. Burt, Aubry L. Burt, Grady F. Burt, and Cecil E. Burt.
She is survived by her brother, Fred P. Burt (Pam) of Columbus, GA, and her sister, Linda B. Zingarelli of Woodstock, GA.
