Claude was born in Athens on September 19, 1938, the son of the late Coile A. Edwards and the late Gatha M. Edwards. Claude served in the U.S. Army before working for Benson’s Bakery in Bogart for 27 years. Afterwards, he owned Edwards Septic Tank Service for 30 years, before retirement.
Claude is preceded in death by his son, Michael Edwards, and two of his sisters: Frances Pulliam and Annette Sorrow.
Claude is survived by his wife, Doris N. Edwards; daughters: Vanessa Baber (Jon) and Pamela Cleghorn; one sister, Geneva Brawner; and two brothers: William “Bill” Aubrey Edwards and Clarence (Carolyn) Edwards; grandchildren: Joseph (Brandy) Cleghorn, Jeremy Cleghorn (Alice), Brandy Edwards, and Tyler Edwards; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 26, 2023, from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM, at Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens. The funeral service to honor the life of Claude Edwards will be held directly after the visitation at 3:00 PM in the Chapel, with Rev. Dave Smith officiating. Burial will follow the service at Evergreen Memorial Park.
