Connie was born in Monroe, Georgia to the late Thomas Watson Sorrells and Evelyn Edwards Sorrells. She graduated from Monroe Area High School and went on to attend West Georgia College in Carrollton, where she met her future husband, Gary McMillan. They were married on June 8, 1968. She and Gary lived in Atlanta, GA, San Francisco, CA, and St. Louis, Missouri, before retiring to Athens, GA, in 2003.
In Athens, Connie was a member of Athens First United Methodist Church, where she served on the “Souper Supper Team,” the Rose and Dahlia Garden Club, volunteered with the Athens Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary and worked in real estate with Blanton Properties. Connie was an avid gardener and loved to travel.
In addition to her parents, Connie was preceded in death by her sister, Patsy Sorrells Fuller.
Connie is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Gary “Mac” McMillan of Athens; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sheryl and Marshall Collins of Fayetteville, GA; brother-in-law, Ray Fuller of Monroe; and five nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM, Saturday, June 15, 2024, in Bernstein Funeral Home, followed by a 2:00 PM graveside funeral service and burial in Evergreen Memorial Park with Reverend Betsy Butler officiating.
