Deborah “Debbie” D. Meeler, 67, of Watkinsville, met her Heavenly Father on Saturday, February 20, 2021.

Born in Clarke County, Debbie was the daughter of the late Talmadge and Margie Roberts. Debbie graduated from Oconee County High School in 1971. She retired from the Oconee County School System after a 20 year career. She was a beloved cafeteria worker and later was a Paraprofessional for the Special Education department. Her most cherished time after retirement was keeping her two grandchildren. She was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church in Athens, where she also spent time as a Sunday school teacher. In addition to her parents, Debbie was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Christopher Meeler.

Survivors include her spouse of 50 years, Larry Meeler; children, Travis Meeler and Ryan (Candice) Meeler; grandchildren, Mason and Abbey Meeler; and brother, Larry (Cindy) Roberts, all of Watkinsville. She also leaves behind a number of loving family members.

Larry, Travis, Ryan, Candice, Mason, and Abbey,
You are in my thoughts and prayers.
During our years at Trinity, I learned valuable lessons from Mrs. Debbie. She had the sweetest and most genuine spirit. I saw her devotion for her precious dad and for each of you.
I was blessed and inspired by her. Mrs. Debbie was a calm, peaceful, faithful, and joyful woman of God.
I am very certain that she is with her Lord and Savior in heaven.
I pray that God will give you comfort as only He can.
Love,
Lorie, Dwayne, and Melanie Grimes
