Doris "Darsie" Logan

Born in Roanoke Rapids, NC, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Mamie Shepherd and was also preceded in death by brothers Julius and Billy Shepherd and sisters Ruth Logan and Mildred Dean. Mrs. Logan was formally employed at Athens General Hospital

Survivors include her husband, to whom she was a faithful and loving wife of 66 years, Rev. Dayton N. Logan of Athens, brother and sister in law Dr. Bob and Dolores Shepherd, Morganton, NC; sister in law Ann Shepherd of Athens, sister in law Priscilla Logan of Athens, brother in law Harry Logan of Laconta, FL and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be 2pm Wednesday, May 27th at Friendship Baptist Church (Danielsville, Ga) with Rev. Jeff Wells, Rev. Randy Crowe and Dr. Bob Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 26th, at Bernstein from 6-8pm.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Marable, Brian Marable, Bud Christian, Billy Culbertson, Ray Brooks, Eddie Galloway and Clayton Bryant.

Honorary pallbearers will be our preacher friends who attend.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Gideon’s International, Madison County Camp, 39 Brownwood Dr., Hull, Georgia 30646-4000.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Michael Nelson and staff, Dr. James Splichal and staff, Athens Regional Medical Center doctors and staff and the staff of the St. Mary’s Hospice House.

The family will be at the residence of Janice and Tommy Marable, 160 Jefferson River Rd.
