Born in Jamesburg, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Eva Masica Kalinak. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, John Kalinak and Michael Kalinak and her sister, Anna Yura. Ellen spent her childhood in Linden, NJ and graduated from Linden High School. She married Edward L Boyne, Jr. in 1955 and they raised their family in Rahway, NJ.
Ellen retired from Rahway Public Schools, where she worked as a Secretary, finishing her career at Madison Elementary School. She never missed her children’s sporting events and was active in Rahway CYRC. She was a life-long member of St Nicholas Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church. She was happiest when she hosted family gatherings and was surrounded by those she loved dearly. Ellen loved to travel and was proud that she and Edward spent time exploring all 50 states in the USA. She was a devoted grandmother and loved traveling to any event her grandchildren were involved with. She delighted in her 5 great-grandchildren who loved to climb in her lap for story time.
Ellen is survived by her husband, Edward Leonard Boyne, Jr.; her children, Kathleen Boyne Slonaker (Mark), Michael Edward Boyne (Sue) and John Thomas Boyne; her grandchildren, Michael Slonaker (Heather), Meaghan Rogers (Josh), Patrick Slonaker (Katie), Steven Boyne, Kevin Boyne, Jeffrey Boyne, Gregory Boyne (Liana), R.J. Boyne, Joseph Boyne and Amber Boyne; her great-grandchildren Jack Rogers, William Slonaker, Ellie Rogers, Riley Slonaker and Samuel Slonaker and numerous nieces and nephews and “close as family” friends..
Visitation was Sunday, September 12, 2021 from 3-5 pm at Werson Funeral Home, 635 North Wood Avenue, Linden, NJ. Panahida was at 4:30 pm. Services were on Monday, September 13, 2021 at 9:30 am at the Funeral Home, thence to St. Nicholas Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church, Elizabeth, NJ for a Funeral Service at 10:30 am. Burial followed in the Rosedale Cemetery, Linden, NJ.
