Ellen graduated from Clarke Central High School in 1977. She later retired after 40 years of service from the University of Georgia, where she worked faithfully as an administrative assistant.
A devoted member of Beech Haven Baptist Church, Ellen lived her life with steady faith and quiet strength. She was also an avid University of Georgia sports fan, and she took special pride in cheering on the Bulldogs. Above all, Ellen was a devoted mother and NaiNai, a role she cherished deeply.
Ellen is survived by her daughter, Sydney Levi (Caleb) of Hendersonville, North Carolina; her son, Bill King (Kelsey) of Haleyville, Alabama; her sister, Ann Johnson Flohr (Larry) of Kittery, Maine; and her grandchildren, Preston King, Raegan King, Mary Levi, and Andy Levi.
Ellen was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Edward "Eddie" Louis King; her father, Sidney Marion Johnson; her mother, Mary Ellen Maguire Johnson; her brother, Anderson "Andy" Sidney Johnson; and her grandchild, Avery-Kate King.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at Bernstein Funeral Home, 3195 Atlanta Highway, Athens, GA, on Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
A Memorial Service will follow in the Chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home in Athens, GA, at 4:00 pm.
