Born in Madison County, Mrs. Hix was a daughter of the late John and Mary Collins McElroy. She retired from General Time and her greatest joys were her kids and grandkids.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hix was preceded in death by her husband, Hope B. Hix; son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Vicki Hix; and seven siblings.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Ric Baxter of Monroe; sons and daughters-in-law, Donnie and Nelda Hix of Bronson, FL and Larry and Flo Hix of Colbert; brother, Rufus McElroy of Danielsville; sisters, Gloria McElroy of Danielsville and Frances McElroy of Comer; grandchildren, Richard Baxter (Jennifer), Matt Baxter, Stephanie Baxter, Rob Finley, Irene Finley, Katherine Moore (Nick), Bradley Hix (Cora), Jeff Hix (Paige), Tyler Hix, Garrett Hix and Cody Hix; great-grandchildren, William Baxter and Phillip Baxter; numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were private.
