Born in Jackson County, Mrs. Archer was the daughter of the late Walter Shields and Essie Lee Coleman Shields. She retired as a nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital and was a member of Attica Baptist Church. Mrs. Archer enjoyed painting, gardening, doing jigsaw puzzles and taking care of her loved ones.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Joel Archer; brother, Harold Shields; and sisters: Reba Shields Storey and Juanita Shields Williamson.
Survivors include children: Rita Archer Duke (Gary) and Becky Archer Harris (Rick); six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
A private committal service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to The Plaza Personal Care Center at Talmage Terrace of Athens, 801 Riverhill Drive, Athens, GA 30606.
