
A native of Athens, Emily was the daughter of the late John and Chloris Carroll West Blount. She was a 1976 graduate of Athens Academy and attended Brenau University, Georgia Southern University, and the University of Georgia, where she was a loyal member of the Phi Mu sorority. She worked for Wyeth Laboratories, was a member of Beech Haven Baptist Church, and a sustaining member of the Athens Junior League. Emily was a longtime resident of the Five Points/Glenwood neighborhood and loved her neighbors and friends in this community.
Survivors include brother, Gregory W. Blount and wife, Jane, of Atlanta; aunt, Betty West Knox of Charlotte, NC; nephew, George Whitfield Blount, and niece, Greer Woodruff Blount, both of Atlanta.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4 at the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home led by Dr. Stewart Simms, with a reception for family and friends to follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA).
