Ms. Frances and I worked together at Athens Regional hospital on the weekend together. I was in college at UGA during the week and worked on the weekend at the hospital. I met Ms. Frances in passing every weekend because I had to check her area as security. She became a good friend and like a 2nd Mother. This news definitely saddened me and she will always bring happy memories for me. Rest well Ms. Frances.

I was in Ms. Martensons 2017-2018 school year class. She truthfully was my all time favorite teacher. Ms. Martenson never treated us like a group of kids. Sh treated us as if e were her own children. I remember how she refuse to swear so she would replace every swear word with " froot loop". She was allways there for me. I'm not going to lie, I allways felt like a teacher's pet. He was there for me during my darkest moments and allways coul mannage to put a smile on my face. I've been torn about how I am supposed to feel since it happened. This would have been one of the times she would comfort me. This was such a shock an it is going to take a lot of time before we fuly heal

She was my favorite teacher in Bear Creek and when I came from  Nigeria, she was my first class and what she thought that day stuck to my head till now

Ms. Martenson was always there when we needed her most. She always gave a good laugh anytime. She had the best stories and was the best teacher. She will be forever missed. 

Thoughts and prayers for her children during this difficult time . She was my daughter Skylar’s favorite teacher at Bear Creek. She really made an impact on her life. She will truly missed.

I met Frances in 2011 when I came to work at Athens Regional.  When I first met her, I had no idea what she would come to mean to me. 
She quickly became a precious friend, a confidante, a mentor and a cheerleader. She helped me in so many ways and her kindness was boundless. She never, ever failed to give her all to whatever she turned her hand to, and that most certainly included being a friend. 
Her students and fellow teachers at the schools she taught in loved her and her co-workers at the hospital loved her as well.  "Everybody loves Frances" was a common statement among all her co-workers at the hospital.
One of the things I personally cherish most about Frances is that she could always make me laugh, whether playing a prank on me, telling a funny story about something "stupid" she had done (her words) or sharing a funny story about something that had happened to her at school or at the hospital.
I and many, many others feel her loss keenly and will go on missing her for the rest of our lives. 



My granddaughter talked  often about one of her favorite teachers at BCMS,  Ms. Martenson.  She  was a teacher who loved her students and it showed.  We were hoping that McKenzie's  younger sister would be fortunate to have her as well.  She will be sorely missed at BCMS! God bless her family.
